  • Thomas Gunn

    Thomas Gunn inspires a team of more than 140 staff and spearheads the digital developments within Thomas Gunn Navigation Services (TGNS).

    Tom started his working life as an apprentice at a specialist navigation instrument maker. This led him to become a qualified compass adjuster aged just 21. At the age of only 22 he moved to Aberdeen where he began Thomas Gunn Navigation Services

  • Linda Gunn

    Linda has been with the company since it was founded in 1978. Previously working for Swan Hunter Ship Repairers in North Shields, Linda gained experience of the shipping industry at a very early stage in her career. Coming from a long line of North Shields and Aberdeen fishing folk, she has always been amongst ships and fishing boats.

    Today, Linda is responsible for all financial aspects of the company.

  • Doug Anderson

    Doug has been connected with the sea since leaving school, serving 11 years in the Royal Navy followed by almost 40 years in the chart industry. He joined the company in 1994 having been Director Customer Services with one of the then leading Admiralty chart agents in London. His experience in the international market has helped the company expand in to the global enterprise it is today.

    Doug is the primary contact for all enquiries regarding vessel outfit management services, supply of Tracings, Notices to Mariners and charts and publications.

General Manager

  • Chris Hulbert - London

    Chris started his career in charts over 20 years ago eventually achieving ownership of his own independent chart agency. Having joined Thomas Gunn in 2005 he is now responsible for the overall operations of the London office. Chris has continued using his expertise gained over this time to promote TGNS.

Accountant

Ian Thompson

Accounting since 1971, Ian joined the company in 1999. With a wealth of experience in the profession and industry, he brings a sound accounting base to the company.

Customer Services Manager

  • Lloyd Ferguson - Aberdeen

    After graduating from Aberdeen College with an HND in Business Administration, local boy Lloyd started his career with TGNS in 1998. Lloyd quickly rose through the ranks to his current position of Customer Services Manager heading up a team of 10. The experience gained from working in all departments of TGNS as well as his determination and passion for the Shipping Industry has given him the knowledge required in adapting the services we provide to any specific customer requirements, therefore ensuring a smooth supply system for our customers and their vessels.

    Primarily responsible for New Building Enquiries and control of all vessels on Outfit Management Service.

  • Paul Radford - London

    Paul Radford is the Customer Services Manager in the Company's London Office. He is responsible for maintaining all vessels outfit management services. Paul is also the primary contact for New Building enquiries as well as vessel specific requirements.

    He joined TGNS in 2005 after gaining experience at other chart agents bringing that knowledge to the Market leader.

Sales

  • Pat Scanlan

    Pat has spent all his working life in the shipping industry. Starting his career in 1970, spending 7 years as a seagoing Radio Officer.

    Then working ashore as Electronic engineer, installing, repairing communications and navigational equipment, mainly in the UK, but with 2 years based in Singapore.

    Now in his 12th year at TGNS Pat leads the Sales team, passing on his experience to the newer generation.

  • Stephen Dionne

    Stephen arrives at Thomas Gunn Navigation Services with a proven sales background and a strong desire to apply his skills in the shipping Industry.

    Travel has always been a key part of Stephen’s working life but home has always been near the Sea. When asked what appealed about Thomas Gunn Navigation Services, Stephen stated that “ ..if a job is worth doing it is worth doing properly and to represent the market leader in our industry on a global basis is a position of privilege. The marine industry is full of history and tradition and facing a challenging future, I look forward to helping my clients tackle those challenges head on and remain safe and profitable into the future”

  • Terry Logan

    Terry comes from a customer service and sales background with 15 years experience. He is self-driven, result orientated, with a positive outlook and a clear focus on high quality and customer service. He enjoys the new challenge of traveling within the EU visiting prospective and existing clients and making sure that the TGNS brand is well represented and stays the market leader within the navigation industry. Terry is also excited about the future for TGNS, as it is constantly developing its own brand of navigational equipment and digital products expanding the portfolio of opportunities that are out there for TGNS. He feels extremely privileged to work within the helpful, friendly and family atmosphere that TGNS has developed over many years. With everyone looking to move the company forward to a bigger, brighter and more profitable future.

  • Christopher Bell

    Chris comes to us from a distinguished seafaring background in the Merchant Navy, which has seen him travel all over the globe gaining valuable knowledge of the shipping industry. He started at South Tyneside college way back in 2005 where he gained his unlimited OOW Certificate of Competency. He is responsible for dealing with existing and potential clients, whilst working closely with other sales personnel.

Digital Manager

Colin Stephenson

Colin has been employed at TGNS for over 16 years and previously worked in both the marine and offshore industry. Prior to taking up his current position Colin was employed as Customer Services Manager within the company. Colin is now responsible for the management of all our customers digital requirements and with the staff in the department available to assist our customers in the transition to digital navigation.

Purchasing Manager

Julie Stewart

Julie joined the company in 1995 and after working within the Accounts Department and as Quotations Administrator she progressed to Purchasing Manager in 2007. Julie is responsible for purchasing all UKHO paper products as well as Nautical publications and Navigational Equipment. Heading a team of four she also oversees Quotations and the processing of all online sales generated from both TGNS Web shops.

Compass Adjusting & Service Technician

Martin Goodrum

Martin started with TGNS as an apprentice Compass Adjuster in 1982 at age sixteen and has been with the company since. As the Senior Compass Adjuster, Martin is responsible for all compass adjusting and compass repairs and travels the country attending vessels of all type and size, providing a 24 hour service at any location required.

IT Manager

Barrie Wilson

Barrie joined TGNS in 2002 after serving as an AB/Coxswain in the Merchant Navy for 6 years. During this time he enrolled in various IT course modules and gained a Microsoft Systems Engineer certification.

His responsibility as IT Manager is to recognise every aspect of the company's business process requirements in order to design, develop and implement preferred solutions for the systems, services, products, and any future business developments. With a combination of IT and seagoing experience he has developed a vast knowledge and understanding of the business and the industry in which it serves.

Operations Manager

Mark Rose

Mark joined the company in 1986 as a service technician primarily servicing magnetic compasses before heading our Glasgow based operation in the mid-nineties. Covering our west of Scotland customers Mark serviced the area both with nautical instrumentation and Admiralty products before returning to Aberdeen as Operations Manager. As Operations Manager Mark is now responsible for the controlled process of chart and publication supply and despatch from our Aberdeen warehouse.
